クリシュナ・ムルティは、ジャワ島中部、ソロ市の北30キロの所にあるサンギラン博物館を見学することによって、『サンギラン人』を作り始めた。サンギランはピテカントロプス・エレクトゥスの遺骨が発見された化石の出土地である。観察に基づいて、クリシュナ・ムルティはピテカントロプス・エレクトゥスのリアリティを理解しようとした。およそ20万年前に生存し、サンギラン人として知られ、人類（ホモ・サピエンス）の起源として信じられている類人猿である。 『第1回福岡アジア美術トリエンナーレ1999（第5回アジア美術展）』図録（福岡アジア美術館、1999年）、130頁。 |

| Description/Source | Krisna Murti started creating, "My Ansestors Are
Sangiran Man"by observing Sangiran Museum, 30km to the North of the city
of Solo in central of Java. Sangiran is the fossil site where the
remains of Pithecanthropus Erectus was found. Based on the observation
Krisna Murti tried to understand the reality of Pithecanthropus Erectus
-- known as the Sangiran Man who lived around 200,000 years ago -- that
